We used to plow snow in northern MN with an A, with an angled blade. I built a box on the rear drawbar and filled it with scrap iron (300lb). Did not have fluid or chains, and it worked ok. I would not use chains if you have a paved driveway, as it will scratch it all to hell! The shape of the blade has a lot to do with how hard it pushes. Also northern MN snow usually doesn't weight anything.
