Suspect they cut manifold gasket surface out of level with original angle. Would'nt take much to shift carb. more distance than what was removed from manifold. One way I have used to line up mismatch, but don't know about 1/8 inch is to slot 2 bolt holes in housing on top of main governor housing. After make sure vertical throttle linkage rod does'nt rub. One other time for a LP manifold I used a god bit of time with a file, flat glass and sand paper to cut upper housing gasket surface at a angle so top would shift closer to engine to line up carb. throttle shaft.
