I guess if one hooked to a single 6 volt battery, and both 6 volt batteries had some charge, the worst you may do is put 18 volts to the starter. years ago we never hesitated to hook 12 volt up to jump the old 6 volt Farmalls. I know numerous guys that never hesitated to put 24 volts to those 6 cylinder diesels. I'm not sure folks should be trying that on the newer tractors with digital everything and sensors galore.
