Any time I have a head off I take it to a machine shop and have it checked for warpage and cracks. I also have the springs checked and the valves ground. This is also a great time to have the injectors checked for cracking pressure and spray patterns. I have seen many people regret not taking these extra precautions. The amount of labor is about the same and doing the job right the first time is a lot more fun than the second time.
