Tim: I don't have much quarrel with what your saying. I have seen planetary type on 460s, I've not seen it on 560s, but then I never checked serial numbers of the ones I saw either. Maybe I've never looked at a very early 560s. My own 560 was a 62 model, thus I should have said I've never seen it. With regards to the particular PTO in question, I've never seen a planetary with this symptom. Very common with the clutch type, therefore I think the question at hand is adjustment of the clutch type. Having said this, and while the two clutch type are very similar, the adjustment proceedure is quite different, thus I feel it is imperitive he find out which type he has, then find the proper manual for that adjustment. From the description, quite frankly I think his PTO is toast. I rebuilt the planetary in my 300 several times in 35 years. I rebuilt the clutch type in my 560 at least 5 maybe 6 times in 17 years. Bear in mind that 560 was turning out 90 hp all those years and was worked accordingly.

Experimentation, from the most complex assembly to the most simple and mundane component, is as an integral a part of any farm tractor's development
