i'm sure someone with more experiance will chime in with a more educated answer but i'm gonna say they are not the "same" as you put it. i believe the 856 is around a 100hp and the 826 is in the 80-90 range if that. i'm sure the concept is the the same, but i would think the 856 would be a bit more stout, assuming we're comparing gear drives be cause the 826 was a popular hydro while i don't think the 856 was available in a hydro.
