Yes, Allan, the glow plugs are in SERIES. Each glow plug has two connections, an inner "rod", and an outer "sleeve". The thumbnut on the inner rod contacts one connection, then comes a ceramic disc that separates it from the inner connection, that contacts the "sleeve".

BOTH the inner and outer concentric connections are insulated from the body of the glowplug.

Trouble is, sometimes the outer of the two concentric connections short-circuits to the glow plug body, potentially burning out THAT glow plug, or any that are BEFORE it, in series.

NOT the best setup.

Some of the old Thermo-King "reefer units" used the same setup.
