Kevin, Since your Super A has the optional seat, try checking the engine number. It's on a flat boss at the top edge of the block, right above the #1 spark plug (closest to the radiator). It won't match the serial number of the tractor but should be close enough to get the year +/- 1. Another way to figure out the year is the casting codes. Look for raised numbers and a letter that look something like @4@21@S@ on the engine block and other major castings. The two numbers are the month and day and the letter is coded for the year the casting was made. Post them back to the list for ID or get a copy of Guy Fay's IH Tractor Data Book for about $10 at Barnes and Noble or Amazon. It has the listings in it for the casting codes and S/N's and so much other data that it's indispensable for me. By the way, that optional seat you described sounds like a Monroe seat. They were built by the shock absorber company and usually sold as a dealer option. I have one on my M and it gives a nice ride. Phil
