Some of the 350's (& maybe 300's) with 12 volt systems had a harness with an extra wire such as yours. Wired a s follows: Red - attaches along with battery cable to large stud on solenoid. Orange - attaches to small stud on solenoid likely marked "S". The other wire color is "natural" and attaches to other small stud on solenoid. The other end of this wire would attach to coil "+" post. This allows the coil to have full 12 volts during starting, but after engine fires it would run on 6 volts. I believe these had a keyed ignition switch with a push button start switch. An operators manual usually has wiring diagrams in them and I would recommend the purchase of one. It would explain this much better than I can. Good luck!!
