If the checking is showing structural cords in the tire body, I would use a black urethane elastomer (in warm weather) from a caulking tube. Door and window sealer material. Do the easy access locations on maybe 1/3 of tire, then wait for 4 days (must wait to allow curing) rotate tire and do next third etc. The tire could be jacked off the ground to do it all in one step. It would be time consuming on a really checked tire, but if it was clean to begin with, it should seal the cracks. Scrape the excess off with a flex blade putty knife, then scrape it into the next crack. The material is about the most sticky stuff around, and is nasty on your hands, wear plastic gloves. Its flexibility and toughness should be long lived. JimN
