"That is, would I have to hold that HydroTouch valve down to send pressure to the remote output, or would it always be “hot”" You could use a bungy cord. What do you get for $400? Would that be the 10gpm or the 20gpm? I would get the 20gpm but I think they cost more than $400. You have other options, I think. Don't utilities have a bolster that allow for the mounting of a pump in line with the crankshaft pulley. Some tractors have a crankshaft pulley with four bolts threads for mounting a splinded flange that accepts a short driveshaft. The other end goes into a pump that attaches to the front of the bolster with two or four bolts. The driveshaft passes through the crank hole. The pump can be physically smaller (and cheaper) because it turns four times faster. You might also locate a "step-up" PTO gear box similar to what is used on PTO generators. Some generators turn 1800 but most whip around at 3600rpm. A pump attached to the output of the gear box would be small and cheap. A high hydraulic flow to your splitter means you can run your tractor engine at a slow speed. I run my 20gpm pto Prince pump, that pushes a 4" cylinder, at 900 engine rpms. "If you OVER build it, you will ----". Sorry, that was disgusting.

When Push Comes to Shove - by Dave Patterson. When I was a “kid” (still am to a deree) about two I guess, my parents couldn’t find me one day. I’d probably plowed about 3000 acres (in my head anyway) by the time they found me. This is where my love for tractors started and has only gotten worse in my tender 50 yrs on this “green planet”. I’m par
