If this is the 3/4" plug at the RH rear, near the RH rockshaft lever, it isn't REAR END oil. It's HYDRAULIC SYSTEM oil. The hydraulic reservoir/rockshaft housing sits on top of the rear end, and it's oil is SEPARATE of the rear end/transmission oil. Are you losing ENGINE oil, and "gaining" hydraulic oil? If so, either the engine timing gear driven oil pump has a bad seal, and is taking in engine oil, or you may have a leak in the pump seal or suction piping that is taking in AIR, and "foaming" the oil. Also, if the 3-point control valve is not set up right, or the auxillary implement valve (if used) is not returning to center, the pump will always be working against the relief valve, heating up the hydraulic oil. Does the hydraulic system continuously "hum" or "buzz", like it's the relief valve is operating continuously?

Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
