In addition to the good info below, I'll add that instructions that came with sleeves I've used indicated the freezing of the sleeve, and warming of the block as a means of easing the installation. There are several pics of sleeve pullers in the archives (all very easy to make) with pretty common materials. (I would not use a sealant on a sleeve (unless directed by a manufacturer, and only the one recommended) due to the difficulty of removing the sleeve the next time. I have never used a sealant type material. Heat conductive silicone is fine if applied in a very thin film. Clean the groove at the top deck to assure full entry into the bore. Many hair pulling teeth gnashing fits have occurred when the sleeve was broken by pounding on it in the last 2". The letters stamped next to the bores on the block indicate relitive machined diameter A being smallest, and D being biggest. These were used by IH to select fit the sleeves. Issues sometimes occur with C and D holes being too large for a replacement sleeve. The loose sleeve will definitely break and ruin the engine. If it slides in by hand (when they are the same temperature (before chilling etc.)they are loose, and either a larger one is needed, or (if you are lucky) swapping them between holes will find a good matchup. It is an issue that is not to be ignored. Very best of luck, I hope I helped. JimN
