Haven't figured fuel consumption on my 42 H, but ran it about 5 hours today and went to fill up and still had over half tank left! This is mowing in 4th with my 1110 w/7 foot bar. I figure it's always better to top off than to walk home for a gas can... Our 544 used 1/4 tank mowing with the 7 foot 100 trailer mower, I think it ran about 8 hours total today. How do you have your carb set? You should be able to turn the high speed screw in just so it doesn't stumble when you crack the throttle from idle... or at least that's how mine's set.
