This was back in the day when they made two different size tractors for two different horsepower levels. The H is a much smaller tractor, so it has a smaller mounting base for the PTO shield. In fact, the H shield is TOTALLY different. It's much longer than an M shield, because the tractor is smaller, but they both have the same axle-to-PTO-to-drawbar distances. You would never be happy with an H PTO shield on an M. Every time you turned short, you'd hit and bend the shield or the PTO shaft... Nowadays, they make one tractor, turn the injector pump up in one, put a different number on the hood, call it a "bigger" tractor, and charge extra for it! Now THAT is bogus.
