This happens frequently. My first experience was fire from under the hood of a 140. Shut it down to stop the fan air and managed to pull the rest of the burning nest off the exhaust manifold. I always check now before cranking from early spring to late summer. 2 weeks ago a wren built a nest and had layed 3 eggs within 3 days of parking the tractor. I pull out 4 - 6 a year. Wrens never learn. Neighbor of mine has had 3 fires on his A, but he forgets to check. A gas hose and carburetor below the manifold makes this dangerous. I was thinking about starting a thread on this topic and am glad to see others have the same problem.
