Question on 830 JD

I am looking at buying an 830 tractor. NO-not the old two lunger but the approx. 40hp 3 cyl. diesel utility tractor made in the 70's. Can anyone with experience with these tell me some of the things good/bad and things to look for when I go to check it out. I did talk to the previous owner who traded it in to an IH dealership and he says its a prettty fair tractor. Sheet metal is good. Paint good. he says no hyd. or oil leaks but says that once in a while the 3 point would jump a little when raising. Sounds like a little air in the system. Dealership is asking 5500.00.
