Regarding milk prices: Pay price for my May production was $19.10 per cwt. Subtract .96 per cwt for hauling, capital retain , adv. and promotion and CWT program leaves a net price of $18.14 per cwt. That is $1.56 per gallon. Price of milk in local food stores is over $4.00. Price of milk goes up a little to farmer-- price goes up much more in stores. Price to farmer drops to previous levels--price remains the same or drops very little in stores. There is way too much difference in farmer price and retail price. Milk is forecast to be over $20.00 soon. This could result in retail price reaching the $5.00 per gallon you mentioned. By the way, $20.00 farm price equals $1.64 per gallon. $5.00 gallon retail equals $58.10 per cwt.
