Yes, MD's came from the factory with a second battery under the seat and a 12V electrical system with (2) 6 volt batteries in series. Most of the under-seat boxes have been removed when 12V batteries became common. It shows pictures of both right in the operator's manual. Finding the below-seat battery box is about impossible. Saw one at RPRU a few years back and they wanted $150 for it. They have a metal bracket similar to the below gas tank boxes that allows you to take it loose and slide it backwards to allow access to the battery. I wound up taking a regular M battery box and made a bracket to mount it under the seat. Not exactly correct, but about the only option I had when I restored it 10 years ago. Brian
