Your problem is you have a 6 volt coil on a 12 volt battery. You need a ballast resister in line so as to knock the 12 volts down to 6 volts. I use a ballast resister made for the mid 70s dodge cars and trucks and they work well and are cheap. By the way you need to replace the coil since it has been leaking oil. You can also get a coil that say right on it no external resister needed and thats a 12 volt coil and then you don't need the ballast resister
