Clean those new points with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol and then see if the engine will start.
Pull the coil wire from the cap and hold the end of the coil wire near a good ground and have someone to snap those points open and close a few times with the ignition switch on. Every time the points are snapped you should have fire from the coil wire. Hal
