Yes, they eat the silks and the corn plant won't polinate.
I fight them with malithon where I can and traps. Each morning I empty the traps into a 5-gallon bucket. (They are not active during the cool of the night.) I put a little liquid malithon into the bucket of beetles and cover. In a day, they are all dead. Last year I killed over 50 gallons that way and have a good start towards that many this year. My theory is "The more I kill, the fewer that can reproduce!"
