First you should start by checking the spark plugs, if they need to be replaced, replace them and gap them properly. If this does not help, try cleaning the points and putting in a new condenser. If this does not work, it may be the coil. A new coil for a distributor is usually around $20, but for a magneto, it is usually around $40-$50. Hope this helps.
