I went to check the M and couldn't find the part number as it is still on the tractor, but it is possible I guess that the uncle may have changed it. He put 4 inch fire crater pistons in it back in the late 60's or early 70's and maybe a 400 head on it, so it is possible that he put a 400 carb on it as well. When I take it off I will see if I can find the number and see what it really is. That is the trouble with tractors this old, you never know really what has been done or changed in the past. The only time I have even had the head off was in 1990 when dad decided to put new rings and bearings in it, and have the head gone over. It may even have a 400 cam for all I know. It does have more power than the run of the mill M. My other M is on the other farm and can't check it today, but there is no telling about it either as it has M&W 4 inch pistons in it and who knows about the carb.

To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
