I just bought a '49 H off Ebay (as a buy it now) for $950.00

Of course the tractor was totally mis-represented, like it had been "started" over the winter and I asked all the usual questions, starting with "in your opinion" about tires and clutch etc. Prior to making the deal I was told all the tires were good, tractor ran good etc.

Just prior to picking it up the guy calls me (mind you I had spoken with him previously to make pick-up arrangements) that I did know the tractor hadn't ran for 2 years and to plan accordingly. I immediately refered to the ad and the responses I received via emails. His "starting" was really "cranking it over". Seems his daughter listed it and was handling all the replies and in the process embelishing on a few things that he had written down for her to list it by.

He felt bad about it, but after I actually looked the tractor over, all the stuff thats usually missing was still on it like it has the fenders, PTO shield, belt pulley, battery box, and lights (with original glass). Wiring is still the cloth covered stuff. 1 flat front tire, 1 rear with dry rot, but all the rims have no rust from calcium. I considered walking, wasn't sure how I could get my funds back (paid via paypal) so I gambled on it.

I had it running within a couple hours of getting it home. It came with a 5ft pull around bush hog with a like brand new PTO shaft. (the deck has some rust... but it works good)

Your deal doesn't sound all that bad, its just like gambling... you could probably do better but if this deal feels right to you it's your money.
