In addition to Jims post, Im of the opinion a good tight clean to heavy metal (like heavy iron or tractor steel or casting) mounting of the ballast can improve heat transfer away from it to a cooler heat sink. i.e. MOUNT IT to a heavy piece of tractor metal DO NOT let it merely suspend in free air using a piece of wire or zip tie etc. John T
