If it was just rebuilt, did you Polarize it BEFORE you fired her up??????? If it got polarized at the shop opposite from your tractor (Pos or Neg Ground) it may harm the Voltage Regulator. You havent changed battery polarity lately have you??? If so the ammeter leads need reversed or it would read bass ackwards. BEFORE you do anything else I would check Polarity and Polarize the genny then see what happens????? John T
