I got to thinking about your problem today and came up with the problem as being in the t/a. The t/a clutch turns the t/a at a 1 to 1 ratio giving you the diresct drive side. Now the t/a side comes from the ramp area in the lower part of the ta which means it can't be the t/a clutch. Hope this helps you out. Amazing what you think about when I'm building the darn things.
