I had the same issue with my F-12 as far as starting. It would never start off the crank, but it would start right up of the belt pulley, or by pull starting it. It ended up that the spark was being released too late to start the tractor with the slower turning of the crank. I retimed it and it usually only takes two or three cranks to start now.
