The problem I had with my 1929 Regular was that the front mount wore into the front cover, leaving a ridge that was preventing them from separating. The extra space was filled in with rust and crud, making it difficult for the mount to move into its original position. Try using a pressure washer or such to clean the area between the cover and the mount. You may have the same problem I had. I filled in the missing iron on the cover with brass to give a bearing surface since there is movement here. I figure if it took 78 years to get this bad, it will last another 40 with the brass, but then again, I won't be pushing it as hard as my grandfather.
