It gets worked infrequently but hard when worked. I run it without a thermostat and the radiator is not pressurized as the cap does not fit well. Steam never leaks around the radiator cap. I've never seen water on the dipstick except this time there was some condensation. The radiator and block are drained each winter, but I live in Florida and hard freezes are uncommon.
