The easiest way is just to put it in a pan of oil and turn the shaft until oil comes out below the drive gear. The M oil pump is submerged in oil when installed and the pan full of oil. It will actually prime itself as a result of being submerged but priming it will ensure that all the surfaces have lube on them.

On engines where the oil pumps are not submerged it is important to prime them with something that will not easily drain off. Coating the pumping assembly with vasoline or engine assembly lube will ensure that the pump can draw enough vacuum to get oil into it when the engine is started.
