Oops, forgot to post this. I've swapped the starter relay between three of them, I find it hard to believe that all three are bad. I also took an abrasive wheel and cleaned the paint off of the bulkhead behind the starter relay a few days ago to be sure it was grounded. I'll check back through everything again and try the jumper cable trick. One last thing I didn't mention, my replacement voltage regulator has different markings than the original and the tangs are arranged differently across the VR than the schematic shows. I have L F and BAT instead of BAT GEN and F. If I wire F from the generator terminal to the F on the voltage regulator I get a huge arc when trying to install the neg cable on the battery post. I actually have a small weld bead on the neg post from this, which is not good. It did not damage the VR or blow the inline fuse. I rechecked the schematic and compared old and new VR's to see the difference. Right now, I have F on the gen to L and I get a slight sizzle from the neg post instead of an arc. I'm going to get another VR from a local Cub part-out place but I'm thinking the starter relay should at least click so that's what I'm chasing first. What acts as a ground for the motor generator? There's one on the schematic and one for the VR to the generator body (I cleaned the paint off of the generator body under the VR saddle to be sure I had a ground). Would some photos help you guys see what I've got? I can take some and post some links). Thanks

The Cletrac General GG and the BF Avery A - A Bit of History - by Mike Ballash. This article is a summary of what I have gathered up from various sources on the Gletrac General GG and the B. F. Avery model A tractors. I am quite sure that most of it is accurate. The General GG was made by the Cleveland Tractor Company (Cletrac) of Cleveland, Ohio. Originally the company was called the Cleveland Motor Plow Company which began in 1912, then the Cleveland Tractor Company (1917) and finally Cletrac.
