I have a farmall h that does the same thing....I belive it is a weak spring(s) operating the valve. bottom line if a valve isent opening when it is supposed to it will miss. when under load there is diffrent pressure being applied to everthing. when things get sloppy they dont run like there supposed to. like for instince, going down a hill will make it miss worse or even back fire! well thats because there could be slop in the dist shaft. My M will miss when going down a big hill. I also had a 3 cylinder gas engine that ran crappy. i was going down a big hill and i put it in a lower gear and let the clutch out and it ran better after that, probally had a stuck valve or somthing that runs the valve. you can also break things this way too. oyu cant always see what it making them run bad. i look at it this way....i'm getting older and i don't run like i did 20 years ago. if you wanna make her run like new you will need to break down the engine and look for worn parts or damaged parts. My dad had a H that ran crappy we rebuilt her and she ran good til the same part went out inside of the engine bending push rods. Somtimes the cheep comes out expensive. the more you are around somthing the more you will understand it. i would never reuse a sleeve as that was the main problume with my dads H. he had his brother rebuild it and could not get out the no. 2 sleeve so they left it in and reused it. well that was the weak point.
