Keith: I wouldn't advocate the porta power as the complete answer for every front end. I have seen porta powers snap the spindles and spindle housings right off the front end tube. If they are stuck solid enough, big tourches are the only answer. We just don't want folks thinking that is the ultimate answer. It's fine for the front ends that come apart reasonably easy. My advice to anyone using a porta power, once it's in there tight, make sure the tube moves an amount equal to the porta power every stroke. I've seen several center tubes crimson before the adjustable tubes let go. Those tubes that were heated crimson 20 years ago are still on tractors and I know one of them has a loader. Without heat, I've seen a few front ends go to the scrap heap.
