Whats the history of the tractor? Was it sitting or did you see it running? Magneto or distributor? I would start by inspecting the spark plugs and wires. Then check the points. Of the running farmalls I have bought I have always started by changing the plugs, points and wires. Then I would look at the coil. Also have a hot battery but in my experience it should start if you have some juice in the battery. That should fix the spark problem. If that does not work You may have a timing problem or a carburetor problem. Are the plugs wet after you turned it over? If the plugs are wet then its getting gas to the cylinders. Maybe then its flooded. An engine with week spark may be more like to flood. When I brought my 48 H home I flooded it and it would not start. It ran good at the old farmers place and at the place were I bought the loader. Then I flooded it... However, I found to start the thing I needed to have the throttle 1/6 advanced and choked in cold or cool weather. If you advanced the throttle more it will flood (however this relevant may be only my H, my C starts no matter what). Then I need to slowly open the choke as it warms up for a minute or two. As far as timing, if it was running before you bought it, I doubt that it was a timing problem. It may need to be adjusted but should pop unless it is way off. Hope this helps but others may have better ideas.

But alas, my carb foiled me again, it would fire a second then flood out. After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga
