I went to an auction in Strawtown, IN about 10 years ago and saw a bunch of owner modifieds. This guy farmed over 1000 acres since the 30s. He had never bought a new tractor, but basicly built his own from other donor tractors and trucks. There were several F-20s with ford flatheads and I think one of them had 2 flat heads on it. several others with v-8s. One nicely done streched out W-9 with a GMC screamer super charged 2stroke diesel, like on the Oliver 99 GMC, that was done as nice as factory, hood and all! It wasn't all painted up nice, just well done putting the engine in. He had made an A framed type drawdar deal to hook up several implements such as plows, disks, ect to ONE tractor. Guy was something with a welder and a scrap pile but what he made didn't look like scrap. There were about 30-50 tractors there he had worked on or used parts off of. I think most of his projects were done in the late 40s-the early 80s.
