The valve stem is the round solid part in the very center of the spring. Look at where the rocker comntacts that part. That side of the rocker will be touching the stem. You can tap on the rocker itself, just not hard. Use a peice of wood in between the your hammer and the end of the rocker arm to protect it from damage.
