If it is the older 3 brush genny the closer the adjustable brush is to the fixed brush next to it the more she charges. As far as Voltage Regulator air gaps n spring tension adjustments, Im not into that over the net as it can be pretty delicate. Regardless what genny or system you have, if you dead ground the gennys field post thats the MAX charge (still subject to any third brush setting) so if it still dont charge to suit you it may need some genny repair. Make sure the belt is tight and the genny and VR are both well grounded.
