I think you are getting way in over your head. You want to be some sort of morale compass for a man whom you don't know the entire story. You heard what he said, assumed otherwise, and now want to prove how much smarter you are by saying "HA HA! You'll never get any more use out of MY battery!"
It's not a problem with you, per say. But I have a serious problem with the attitude you are writing about. Quite frankly, if your battery is unusable, and he can make use of it, then so be it.
I'm assuming you want it properly disposed of so it will be recycled and you can feel good about your part in saving the planet. (I'm assuming this based on other posts you've made) Well, he IS recycling the battery!
Anyway, like the others have said, I think you are going about this poorly, and speaks a lot of your immaturity. Chew on that and maybe take a lesson from it.
