Main jet is at bottom, 2.5-3 turns out, idle fuel is in the front of the carb, 1-1.5 turns out. Idle stop screw so that sufficient rpms keep engine from dying Warm up engine, set at full throttle, turn main jet in until engine stumbles, out until smooth plus a fraction of a turn. Idle jet in or out until smooth. Engine should then accelerate smoothly when throttle is open rapidly. Adjustments may need to be repeated a couple of times. BUT, it sounds like the float is stuck or set too high. The distance from the top of the gasket to the bottom of the float should be 1 27/32 inches with the carb upright.
