We've been getting pretty wet here in NW Ohio. The Blanchard River is to my north about a half mile and had now risen about 9 feet over flood stage... enough to be in my soybeans (and some neighbor's houses). We're OK right here, though our nearest town is flooded out (Ottawa, Ohio) and we're effectively blocked in by the flooded roads ( I could get out if I really needed to). Not much to be done here but wait but in the meantime, does anyone have any experience on how long fully developed soybean plants can sit in water before it kills them? This is a hundred year flood here, so obviously I have no expenerience with this. Lots to pray about these days, but if you could spare a little of it for the folks in NW Ohio... They are calling for more rain tonite.

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
