Mike, that was a wonderful story. Old iron is really fascinating and has its own intrinsic value, but without a history, it's just another machine. Every trhcotr that I have restored that I have kept, has a history to it that I know about. Its made it somewhat of a "responsibility" to keep the old girl out of the weather, keep the tires up, the gas fresh and the oil changed. It may seem foolish to some to be so sentimental about old tractors, but they simply don't understand that its not the tractor,but the aura of memories that surround it that is so important. Many of us who had to leave the farm life we so dearly loved use them as a key to unlock memories of a better time, of people we knew who are gone and of mileposts in our lives...
