Now that I think about it, Elbow room in an outhouse is important, especially as we get older and things don't flex like they used to.
I always wondered why they had two holes, but a friend of mine that belongs to the national outhouse collectors society (yes there is such a group) I have ecclectic friends>> told me they did that so mothers could take children out and cut the time in half
Although I can honestly say I can;t remember a time when we didn;t have an indoor toilet. We had a hand dug shallow well and we wern't allowed to use the indoor in the summer. So I never had to deal with outhouses in the michigan winters Praise be unto God.
