I would clean the fins with air and then drain the old water out from the block and the rad both. then fill it with distilled or rain water and run it in there for a couple weeks, drain it out again and refill with another round of distilled or rain water. If there is scale inside, the pure water when hot will disolve it slowly.Be sure to run it a lot when hot and when you drain it, drain it while hot and refil it when cooled off. But if there is a lot of what I call "rust worms" in the head it may have to be pulled and hot tanked. That is a good time to grind valves also. Any acid or compound in that old thin radiator will cause it to leak. I would also thnk about changing the thermostat. You should have seen what was left of the one that came out of my H. Totally corroded away to jagged metal peices. I have a feeling the radiator on mine may be thin inside also judging from what happened to the thermostat. Refil it with the full strength antifreeze mixed with disitlled water only! I have a feeling that premixed 50/50 stuff uses tap water!
