williamf, I do mine that way sometimes. Turn it just a little with the crank to move the bad spot and the starter will work. I have a whole flywheel with a good ring on it laying right here in the shop, just haven't put it in yet. I use the little tractor so much, I hate to tear it apart as I am kinda slow to get things back together. I use it more than any other tractor here. It mows most the hay, does all the cultivating and raking. Even do a lot of pasture clipping with it. Got some wet bottom land and I put duals on it and mow with an 8 foot Lilliston mower. It doesn't sink like the bigger tractor do. Then use it all winter to haul wood with. It don't use near the fuel on lots of jobs the bigger ones do. I see folks around here pulling a hay rake with 100 HP tractors. Looks funny with a big tractor in front of a rake.
