A lot of times thats caused by hot spots in the engine from carbon build up. What happens is the carbon stays hot and when you shut it off the carbon keeps the incomeing gas burning. Some ways to help fix that is run some MMO or tranny fluid in the gas, and or with a spray bottle spray water into the air intake of the carb with it running. Don't spray so much water in that it dies but just enough that it stubbles a tad. Also srapy carb cleaner works to do the same thing
