Chuck is right about the rubber hose on the suction line. But the steel pipe on the uppper end of the rubber hose has been know to crack where it is welded into the mounting plate above the ring gear. If the hose is in good shape take a mirror and light and check real close where the pipe goes into the plate for a crack. Also the 656 has had the mounting bracket on the big suction tube break off. The bracket is welded to the pipe and is bolted to the pinion bearing retainer. Grap the end of the suction tube and try to move it back and forth. I if it moves the weld is broke and the tube has slid back coming out of the o-ring that seals it between the trans housing and the T.A. housing. Would have to split tractor and remove rear deck lid to repair. Can add about 5 gallons of oil and runb tractor. If noise quits chances are that the weld has broken and is sucking air around the o-ring.
