I have a 1968 as well and went thru two of the push button switches this year.
I ordered the first one fron this site but they are longer than the ones used on a 140, they are for an H or M. It lasted a couple of months then I bought one from the local parts place that was the short kind like it was suppose to be. So far that one has lasted, its been three months now.
I guess yours is 12 volt, neg ground, with a Generator?
All our trouble started with a bad battery and leaving the charger on over night. Get a good battery and have the starter checked like old and Jan suggested.
