pondman; I don't know what those lines are, but they are not for steering. On 460 tractors the steering unit resides beneath the fuel tank, and is either a mechanical strongarm device or a power assisted unit which has a hydraulic motor inserted into the steering column. On my 460 ute the steering arms come off the steering unit and go forward to the front axles. these arms are about three feet long and push and pull the tie rods directly. If you have power steering on your tractor and its not working it will be almost impossible to steer the tractor, so if your unit has power steering and its steering the tractor with only a little effort then the lines going under the engine are not involved with the steering. My tractor is not close to me, or I would go take a look to see if I have the same lines, and what they go to. Offhand I can,t think of any lines going to the area you describe, but I'll take a look and see what I can find. My operator manual is for the International model only and the parts book doesn't have any views of the tractor side that gives much info. It may not be today, but I'll go take a look at my tractor and see what I can come up with.
